Each Spiritile is individually handcrafted by applying glass to one side of a thin copper sheet using stencils and relying on precise layering with hand sifters. The piece is fired once in a kiln to set the design. After firing, a pin is rolled over the enameled metal to form intentional crazing marks in the glass. The finished tile is then attached to a wooden frame. Spiritiles can be hung on the wall or be displayed freestanding. They are designed to follow the dimensions of the golden mean ratio. Houston Llew created the tiles to act "as windows of the enlightened spirit."
